Past Simple

Past Simple мы используем, когда идёт речь о прошлых событиях, которые в прошлом и закончились, есть упоминание, когда они проходили в прошлом (yesterday, a year ago, last week и т.д.). Настоящее завершённое время показывает результат действия: говорящий забыл шведский и не понимает, что написано в записке.

Present Continuous

В 3-ем задании Present Continuous выражает действие, происходящее в момент говорения.
